30.
(1) Subject to the following provisions of this section, Disposal of the Secretary of State or any local
authority may dispose of any land acquired land acquired by them under section 10, 11 or 21 of this
Act. under Part I.
(2) A local authority shall consult with the Secretary of State before disposing of any land under this
section.
(3) Subject to subsection (4) below, where the land in question is or includes a monument, the Secre-
tary of State or (as the case may be) the local authority may only dispose of it on such terms as will in
their opinion ensure the preservation of the monument.
(4) Subsection (3) above does not apply in any case where the Secretary of State or (as the case
may be) the local authority are satisfied that it is no longer practicable to preserve the monument
(whether because of the cost of preserving it or otherwise).
31.

32.

by section 13 (7) of this Act, and of Part I.

or (as regards Scotland) for the purposes of the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1972 have
the same meaning as in the said Act of 1971 or (as the case may require) as in the said Act of 1972.
(2) References in this Part of this Act to a monument, in relation to the acquisition or transfer of any
monument (whether under a power conferred by this Part of this Act or otherwise), include refer-
ences to any interest in or right over the monument.
(3) For the purposes of this Part of this Act the Secretary of State or a local authority are the owners
of a monument by virtue of this Act if the Secretary of State or (as the case may be) the local author-
ity have acquired it under section 10, 11 or 21 of this Act.

El Congreso de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos, decreta:
Ley federal sobre monumentos y zonas arqueológicos, artísticos e históricos
Disposiciones Generales
Capítulo I
Artículo 1o
El objeto de esta ley es de interés social y nacional y sus disposiciones de orden público.
Artículo 2o
Es de utilidad pública, la investigación, protección, conservación, restauración y recuperación de los
monumentos arqueológicos, artísticos e históricos y de las zonas de monumentos. La Secretaría de
Educación Pública, el Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia, el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes
y los demás institutos culturales del país, en coordinación con las autoridades estatales, municipales
y los particulares, realizarán campañas permanentes para fomentar el conocimiento y respeto a los
